Now that we're out of the DMS Integration business

It's time to open up about the real deal behind certification programs and what they mean for auto dealers.

You might have heard the news about one of my companies on the wire: Press Release Here where it was announced that Authenticom has acquired the assets of RyanTech on DMSi(c), Carpod and VIN Explosion.  Because of that, we are no longer in the DMS Integration business and I have three words to say about that, "Thank You Authenticom!".

The truth of the matter is that the certification programs from DMS providers and attempts to block access for a dealer to freely move their own data where they want it has become such a CORE competency that you either do DMS Integration and ONLY that or you get out of the way and let somebody bigger do it for you.  This is the case with the recent acquisition of our technology and moving it over to Authenticom, where it will serve dealers well.  They have a great, friendly, seasoned and competent staff and the technology they just acquired only makes them and their dealers even better off than they were before.  But there is one thing it doesn't do; ONE thing!

It doesn't solve the real issue in the industry.  The real issue is that the fabricated certification programs are just pay to play windows that are drawing money right OUT of the dealer's pockets.  Originally the idea of a certification program with a DMS provider had us at RyanTech DELIGHTED!  Why would we be delighted to invest in certification?  I'll tell you!

Go check us out at Microsoft's Pinpoint website where they highlight "certified partners" like us.  We've been one of the most highly decorated partners in Microsoft's history.  In fact we were partner of the YEAR in 2012.  View our certifications and competencies at Microsoft here: http://pinpoint.microsoft.com/en-US/partners/ryantech-4295621573.  It costs us tens of thousands of dollars a year to earn the level of Microsoft Partnership we have achieved and we are happy to pay it because there is a learning path, a testing path, confirmation and credibility requirement as well as customer references needed to earn any competency or award from Microsoft.  We have 47 in total and we're currently working on 4 more in "Cloud Computing".

So when we heard about these programs we signed right up.  Only to find out that they were a way for the DMS Vendors to learn what it is we really do and then limit our own business model and pick the dealer's pockets.  There are NO certified programs that I have seen yet that deliver a higher level of security than any of our products, any of Authenticom's products as well as many of the competitor products that have been out for so many years.

More on this topic as the days continue and I will never give up serving dealers.  Auto dealers have created a great life for me and my staff and all of our families.  We owe it to dealers for the success we have had in this industry.

WIT - What you may not know about this phrase...

Wit is defined as a form of intelligent humor of course, however, the WIT I'm referring to is not that simple.  It's an acronym that our partner Microsoft uses alongside many other other organizations and partners throughout the industry.  This blog is all about how these "WIT" people have enabled RyanTech. W OMEN I N T ECHNOLOGY At RyanTech we've worked very hard to create an image of credibility, investment and second to none support for our customers.  Over the years we've invested time in organizations such as EO ( The Entrepreneur's Organization ), IAMCP ( The International Association of Microsoft Channel Partners ) as well as the MCC ( Microsoft Community Connections ) and participated in the Partner Engagement Board for Microsoft's Worldwide Partner Conference.  All of these engagements have brought value to Me as the CEO and the company as a whole however what's most important about these engagements is that it's taught me to h...

Microsoft Partnering with Dominion for DMX system

When the rumors became reality this morning about Dominion releasing a DMS at NADA this year I was delighted!  I had multiple people email me, call me, tweet and even text me asking if we knew about the "BIG NEWS!" and they all asked how I feel about it. And then I read Ralph Paglia's post.  What an absolute pollution of the industry some posts have become and this one in my humble opinion tops the list as the most poorly written blog post in history.  If you're going to get all emotional and sprinkle the internet with your bathroom opinions, do it there.  Why would I say something this bold?  Allow me a moment to explain the reality of what is going on instead of the garbage you might read elsewhere. Microsoft doesn't build DMS systems, they empower their partners who have earned Microsoft's respect.  The relationship between Microsoft and Dominion is simple, Dominion is a member of the Microsoft Partner Network.  This means that Do...

When Partners Partner

* When Partners Partner, great things happen.                Such is the case for RyanTech and eLeaderTech. Microsoft Partner eLeaderTech, located in Salt Lake City, UT had been developing a product called Executing the Standards, a.k.a. "ETS",  for over 3 years.  In their attempt to build out the software in the .Net framework as well as many other third party objects, the system began to take a road of its own in the sense that the software almost seemed to have a mind of it's own.  Due to the many different programmers and companies involved in the buildout over the years, the code had become unmanageable and the software suffered a potential self destruction. Enter RyanTech, another Microsoft Partner that had been providing ETS with Data Services through its API for a product called DMSi.  The relationship between the Founder of eLeaderTech, David Ibarra, and RyanTech's Founder, Kevin McMillen started to bl...
